I reviewed Day Shift (Netflix)

"Day Shift" is a new vampire hunting movie starring Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco. The movie is about a blue collar working dad who wants to provide for his child's happiness. But, his mundane job at the pool in San Fernando Valley serves as a front for hunting and killing Vampires as part of an international Union of vampiric hunters.

The premise sounds fun, but can director J.J. Perry deliver?

Jamie Foxx and a young lady named Vampire are in a crazy action scene that opens "Day Shift". The sequence then turns into a mad fight between the two. This kind of ragdoll physics makes the action scenes really pop. I think the movie does a better job than most action movies on Netflix or blockbusters. It's easy not to think about the old saying, "action speaks Louder than words". I believe that Day Shift is able to successfully use dialogue and action to help the plot and character growth. Jamie Foxx's character kills the vampire. He then has a funny, dry conversation with his partner about how he believed she would become a bat or other animal. These moments are what make "Day Shift" stand out from other similar films.

Day Shift may be the worst movie ever made. It (Day Shift Netflix) is obvious what they wanted to do but they failed so badly. The acting is terrible, the dialogue is stilted, the plot is confusing. But somehow, I found myself enjoying it. It could be that I am a sucker of vampire movies, or it could just be that I love watching bad movies. Day Shift was fun. It's not a great movie, but it's a lot of fun. That's really all I want from a movie such as this.

Day Shift had mixed reviews. The movie has a lot to offer, including some action scenes that are fun and some characters like the two brothers and Seth. But the villain is horrible and there are many mediocre characters. That helps the stronger characters shine more. There were scenes missing that were not shown. Bud's neighbor acts like she is a friend even though they only had about 3 minutes each before the final scene. Bud's prank phone calling at the gas station was the best moment of the movie. It was hilarious and I enjoyed watching it. However, the movie didn't end as well. Day Shift is, in general, a mixed bag. There are parts that are fantastic and others that are horrible. But if you're looking for a few laughs, you could do worse than this movie.

Snoop Dogg almost got lost in my thoughts. He's fantastic in Day Shift. It's worth the entire movie to watch him. His character is funny and he has great lines. But more than that, he's just so natural in the role. It's as if he was made for the role.
